A child is in critical condition following a horror collision that took place on Wednesday evening.
Shortly before 7.30pm on Wednesday evening, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a pedestrian and a car at Killallon Road, Clonmellon, county Westmeath.

The pedestrian, a female child, was airlifted to Temple Street Children’s Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Her condition remains critical.
The scene is preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
The road is currently closed with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 6.45pm and 7.45pm on Wednesday 22nd April 2026 are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
