Man and woman arrested after alleged assault of two members of gardai

The two Gardaí received treatment in hospital for injuries sustained during the incident and have since been discharged

Two members of An Garda Síochána were allegedly assaulted in Letterkenny yesterday and required hospital treatment.

Gardaí received a call to attend a premises on Neil T. Blaney Road on Thursday,  April 23, at approximately 3pm.

Two male Gardaí attended the scene and were assaulted by a male, who was aged in his 30s.

They arrested the male and also a female, also aged in her 30s, who were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a Garda Station in the Donegal Division.

The two Gardaí received treatment in hospital for injuries sustained during the incident and have since been discharged.

An Garda Síochána is providing peer support to the injured Gardaí. The male remains in custody at this time.

The female has since been released and charged in connection with this investigation.

She is due to appear before Letterkenny District Court on Monday, May 11, 2026.

Investigations are ongoing.
