Man killed in Dublin airport shuttle bus tragedy named

The man who died after being struck by a bus at Dublin Airport on Thursday morning has been named as accountant and publisher of Irish Racing Year Book John Fleming.

He was the owner of Fleming Accountancy & Business Solutions based on Patrick Street in Kilkenny City.

Mr Fleming, who was aged in his 60s, was also a racehorse owner and published the Irish Racing Year Book for more than 20 years. Established in 2003, the yearly publication has been published every year since.

Tributes have been paid in the horseracing community, with people saying they were “shocked” and “heartbroken” by his death. Suzanne Eade, CEO of Horse Racing Ireland, described him as a "very talented and hugely respected man".

Mr Fleming was struck by a bus at Dublin Airport while on foot on Corballis Road shortly after midnight on Thursday. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Gardaí continue to urge anybody who was in the area at the time and who might have information to share to contact them.
